According to the existing U.S. Copyright Law "the law forbids unauthorized reproduction, distribution, performance, or display of works with copyrights."
- This means that the store owner would need permission from the artist(s) to sell and display their music, or else it'll be in violation of this copyright law, and there would be heavy legal consequences (heavy fines, possible jail time)
- Also only a sample of the song should be able to be previewed because hackers may be able to steal or download the entire song without paying (as well as the fact that if a buyer can hear the full song without buying it, what's the point of them buying it.)
It's quick and easy!
- As opposed to scrolling down several pages of songs, all you have to do is search! :)
- You are given different options of searching for whatevers more convenient for you :) For example, if you only know the name of the song, just click "search" (and instantaneously the next page will show, where you), then click "by song title" and it will respond simply "what song?", type it in. and BAM, you can preview your desired song :) Or if you know the artist/band of the song, but forgot the actual song name, simply choose "by band/artist" and you can choose from the listed songs of the band! And if you're not looking for any song or band in particular, you can search by genre too!
- Buttons are as minimal as possible to keep the simplicity of the database however the buttons are completely neccesary to provide easy navigation (i.e. the home button) and to, well, make the database actually work
- Also the database is more graphic compared to say, itunes, which is pretty much just tabled data. Atleast with databases created on Microsoft Access, you are able to customise the background and text and such. And text is quite minimal, only really seen on buttons, which will lead you to tabled data, however the tabled data was created to be to quite minimal too, only showing the most important information
- However more detailed information is still available by clicking from the home page "all music". This will have the complete forms. And it is also editable for staff to be able to well, edit it.
Field Name | Data Type | Purpose |
Genre | Text | To categorise song by genre |
Artist(s) | Text | To categorise song by artist |
Band | Text | To categorise song by band |
Song title | Text | To categorise song by title |
Song sample | Attachment | To preview song |
Song duration | Text | To see how long songs goes for |
File size | Text | To see how much space the song takes |
Album title | Text | To categorise song by album |
Album cover | Attachment | To preview album cover |
Cost | Currency | To see how much the songs costs |
Note: file size & song duration was originally going to be "number" for data type, however it wouldn't allow having "KB" or "mins" (which i guess isn't really neccessary but to me it is) so I just put it under "text." Also for song sample & album cover, "OLE" is another option for datatype, but "attachment" just seemed easier.
4. “Storyboard” how the user will navigate through your database, ie. the path the user follows to get from one form to the next.
(click to enlarge) note: the "all music" form also has a home button.
